Metallica

The sphere footage looks impressive but the band sound fucking terrible.
Yes dont know what happened with the sound. I cant imagine how big is that sphere but seems huge and felt that the sound didnt reach. James voice in some song cracking in others no.

I just realized that this continue the tour of 2026 i mean the last gig was 26th sep. I dont know what happened to james voice maybe was sick or he was forcing it to much because of the bad sound

That's a matter of personal opinion. There are loads of people who also think Maiden albums post-1992 are crap (they are wrong as far as I am concerned).
Well I think all their most recent albums have about 2 or 3 good songs on so it's not like the albums are total write offs. There's always something worthwhile, just surrounded by filler

Metallica`s setlist across 2 shows is top drawer but the sphere is just a screen based show with a musical sideshow, not my idea of a metal concert. Nobody watches the band it`s all about the screens. The band look tiny on the Youtube videos so how well can you see them anyway?

Remember the moaning about the screens on RFYL for Rime & Aces distracting people from the band performing, well multiply by 100 for the sphere i`d say.

That is also the case at concerts in massive venues or festivals. I remember seeing Maiden at the back of the muddy field at Download Festival 2016 and I felt like I was watching a band performing on a different postcode!

You get to hear 30 different songs on 2 consecutive shows?

I think that's fair enough alright, would I like to see Maiden do a similar show to the Metallica one I saw recently? Absolutely. Once Iron Maiden is played both nights.

I thought people were talking about the actual songs, which on the set list there's kind of similar territory to Maiden, a good few big hits, some deep cuts like AJFA which would be comparable to things like Rime, SSOASS and Alexander that Maiden have done recently. Plus a fair amount of recent stuff, which you got on the DOFP tour.

That`s correct but we all know standing a way back watching the band perform on the screens at a festival is a bit different to what`s going on at a show at the sphere. I aren`t knocking it completely but for me it`s not a metal show.

I would have been interested to see your thoughts if this had have been Maiden doing a run at the sphere, i would guess you would have been less positive than you are with Metallica ?

I got the same impression when I saw Metallica at Slane ( festival equivalent), was really disappointing watching One with the stage drenched in smoke, a big animation on the screen and no sight of the band

What defines a metal show for you then? You had the (arguably) biggest metal band in the world performing some of the best metal songs ever recorded at a show. There was probably a lot of metal in the Sphere's structure too!

I guess your problem might be with the immersive multimedia nature of the (gigantic) show, which I guess is not to everyone's liking. I would agree with you to a certain extent, as I prefer my shows smaller and sweatier, with the band closer to the audience, but that stopped being the case with these behemoths ages ago.

If Maiden were to put together such an impressive visual show, I would be more positive than with Metallica because I like their music more! :)
