Met anyone in the band?

Curious if anyone here has met the band or a member of the band. What did you think of them (personality, hospitality, etc.) Pix would be cool to see, etc.

The only musicians that I have had a chance to meet was Rush (Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson & Neil Peart). Alex was the most social of the three & talked the most -- very down to earth. They wanted to talk about anything BUT music at the time which was cool.
 
Back in 1988 I won tickets on the radio for their SSOSS concert along with backstage passes they had a B-BQ before the concert. BRUCE & NICKO made an appearance
to sign autographs and take pic's. Nicko is a lively guy while Bruce was a little reserved.  Guns N' Roses was to open for them that day but somenthing happend and they didn't. LA Guns did. Slash from GNR was there and met him too  :smile:

It was a dream come true for me :wub2:
 
Before I was into the band I fancy I saw someone I now believe to be Janick Gers on the plane from London to Stockholm. He was wearing alot of Maiden stuff as well as tight pants and cowboy-like boots. He had blond, long hair, and a bag which read Iron Maiden Crew. I later found out they had a gig in Stockholm like the next day or something, but I'm not sure if it was really him.
 
This is basically off-topic, but this is the first time I've seen it here in Boston. I was driving with my wife to a restaurant today to get some lunch while out and about. My wife rolls her eyes every time I mention Maiden lately (I'm a little obsessed), but she punches me in the shoulder and exclaimed, "look at the SUV!"

Ahead of us was a big Iron Maiden bumper sticker on a big Cadillac Escalade.

We gave the guy a honk - but he probably doesn't know what it was for. But he was upping the irons. Nice.
 
Extremely sure i spotted Mr Dickinson in my local train station (redhill, surrey, england) at aboput11;15 at night last year. Sure it was him, he was talking to someone about trying to get to Gatwick and he was holding a flying breifcase (Bruce, as you know, flys from gatwick as a commercial pilot), he sounded like Bruce, same hight, same haircut, so it all makes sense it was him. I wasn't to sure tho"!
 
Does Janick making faces at me from stage count? No? Okay. I saw Dennis Stratton walking in the streets some time ago, but I wouldn't have recognized him if I hadn't seen "The Early Years" a couple of hours before that.
 
We ran into the Dirty Deeds guys including management et al at the Sacre Couer in Paris, when they were there for the 9-9-99 show. Very cool guys and we had a nice chat with them. They told us Maiden was staying at the Hotel California right off the Champs Elyssees.  Of course we went down there, and sure enough the hall was jam packed with VIPs and official photographers etc. There was a special VIP bus picking everybody up. Alas... no luck of seeing 'the boys' themselves over there, though.
(Note: this was on our engagement trip and I had never guessed my gf (who now is my wife) would like Iron Maiden, stupid of me, as she actually does, or well, at least up to a certain extent. I had not intended to get tickets, and the show was well sold out, but still it felt really bad to be missing out on them while being in the same city).

Then, this year at the Den Bosch show, when leaving we saw a very long, very well blinded limousine drive away from the terrain. I mentioned it to the fellas I was with, and moments later we were stuck right next to them in a minor 'concert-exit-traffic-jam'. We tried looking into the limo from the front, but no score: even the front window was completely blinded. I wonder who were the ones sitting in that limo, but it certainly looked like a VERY expensive limo; not your run-off-the-mill normal limo rental thingy...:D

Sooooo, there have definitely been close calls for me, but so far, no personal meeting yet...

i live in XXXX in the north east of england and just finished school, janick lives near my school in XXXXX, for those who dont believe his street is called XXXXX and it is a large hill, i met janick while he was picking XXXXX his daughter up from school ( XXXXX school ) as he used to park his XXXXX there and pick her up along with his younger son from the XXXXX scholl nearby, he is a top bloke, he even gave me 2 signed fotos of the whole band, i put one in a charity auction that was a promo from the brave new world tour, and the other is in my room in front of me now, although this one is NOT signed by "ARRY" :( but im goin to the newcastle gig on the 17th december :) cant wait... saw them on the DOD tour and then on the opening day of leeds festival 2006... hes really nice bloke and just loves to chat... it was on his birthday that i first spoke to him :) (january) cant wait till the gig :p anyone who went to one of the previous gigs can they message me the setlist? thx

Thanks for sharing your experience, but is this information not a bit too personal to be put up on the internet? There are some weird people out there and I would hate to think that poor Janick would be getting any deranged followers outside his house... :ninja:
 
lol yea understandable :p hes just too cool a guy :p i know him on naming terms so hes not really gunna be goin "oh no andys stalking me" lol, really need a set list of one of the previous shows from the "amolad" tour!! the gigs on sunday lol!! and i cant wait!!
 
I don't mean you stalking him, I mean some random people from anywhere that see this and decide to pay him an unexpected visit, which is invading his privacy. Just check any of the tour threads for the set list, its in almost all of them.

It would be nice if you adopted some decent spelling and grammar, though.
 
lol thx to the mods for blocking out my message, yea i understand y lol, theres just alot of people who say they have met "so and so" and havent lol, but cant wait till the 17th :D 4 days till the gig...
