I guess the original poster feels that his voice is shit and the album would have been better with a different singer.

The same can be said about Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, etc. (i.e. great music, shit vocals), but that does not make those albums any less great.

What??. Well...in my opinion Hetfield just KILL it on vocals on Ride the lightning and Kill'em all. WOJ is OK.

In my humble opinion, great albums with shitty singers. I would not like them to be any different though (same can be said about the debut albums from Van Halen or Iron Maiden: great records with mediocre singers).

Think about this. If Dickinson were on IM and Killers maybe TNOTB never exist...or they would sign D'iano instead for bruce replacement...

What, a cruise and a festival or two? Meh.

Richter and Ehre have already done two Unity albums since the last Gamma Ray album, and now Kai’s doing a Helloween album and another tour into 2021. The last Gamma Ray album came out over 5 years ago and it would be at least another 2 years before we might see anything new from them. Very few bands survive a hiatus that long.

The Helloween reunion is obviously paying off, so I guess that’s where the interest is. I personally couldn’t care less about it.

One could argue that a new album is not really necessary if their output from the last 20 years is anything to go by. :D

I really like early Gamma Ray, but I think they became a parody of themselves by releasing albums that were pedestrian at best and riddled with borderline plagiarism (or examples of their influences being clearly showcased).

Sad but possibly true. I don’t think they’ve done a great album since 2005, and many would say they haven’t done one since 1999. But I hear a song like “Avalon” from their last album and I know Kai can still deliver the goods, so I have continued to hold out hope.

But 7+ years between albums suggests they just aren’t taking it seriously anymore...

Somewhere Out in Space was their last good album to me.
