Nearly voted against my own nomination in the last match. The Last in Line and South of Heaven are pretty much on par for me.

Some tasty matches this round!

Scorpions - Only listened to this one quite recently, it's about as solid as you get from Scorpions, doesn't quite have the magic of some of the Uli Roth stuff but has a lot more polish and tightness on the arrangements.

Dream Theatre - opinion given before

Scorpions with the win

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son - the best album that has ever been made.

AC/DC - tough shit lads

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son with the win.

Accept - Surprised I didn't nominate this one, would have been very near my list. It sounds fanatastic, maybe one of my favourite sounding albums, and the songs are all great. Perhaps it lacks something a bit more cerebral but so what?

Iced Earth - opinion given before

Accept with the win

Dio - Another great album from Dio, the last in line of his run of classic albums going back to the first Rainbow album. Not as good as it's predecessor, tracks like Breathless and Eat Your Heart Out aren't great, but the rest is perfect.

Slayer - opinion given before

Slayer with the win

Ai ai ai. @LooseCannon I accidentally entered my votes too early, before selecting an album in the last pair.
That would have been Dio - The Last in Line.

A tough decision, because it is against the best thrash album of all time, but in the end:
Egypt is a majestic masterpiece and there are enough other songs that I like as well. My favourite Dio album.

Last edited:
Scorpions (Classic and heavy metal album)
Maiden (My favorite album ever)
Accept (Classic and powerful heavy metal with the classic lineup)
Dio (His second masterpiece)

Classic Heavy Metal wins here

I prefer Scorpions to Dream Theater. Rudolf Schenker is a phenomenal rhythm guitarist and his sounds is like a razor-sharp Lightning bolt cutting through the speakers.

SSOASS is a great album, no doubt about it, but the last three tracks feel a bit disconnected from the first five great ones. Again, the only Maiden album I’ll be voting for is Powerslave. SSOASS would be lucky if it made my top 7. AC/DC.

Iced Earth is way better than Accept. “Balls to the Wall” is fun though.

Voted Slayer cuz I expected a Dio win, but I don’t really care.
