It translates to "congratulations on the day". By the way, "Gratulerar med dagen" isn't directly wrong either. You just missed the "r" which marks the present tense in the Scandinavian countries. And I think the Swedes use the preposition "på" (on) rather than "med" (with).

And I also think Yax doesn't care that much as long as his b'day rocks hard.
 
"Gratulerar på dagen" is grammatically correct, but it's not a phrase I've ever heard.
 
Just what I suspected. I've always heard "grattis på födelsedagen" in Swedish. In Norwegian, it's very common to just say "gratulerer med dagen", though.

I'm late too, didn't recognize this as a birthday topic.  Hope you had a good one.  No longer a teenager!  Now comes the really fun decade.  The 20s are just the best.
