Donington 1988 videos

I posted the entire setlist from Donington '88 (minus Sanctuary), semi-pro shot, onto my youtube account graemecrackers.  It's a great show, the sound is very good, and I personally think it is much better than Maiden england.

Note: The camera starts off wobbly but vastly improves. This is a REALLY rare bootleg, and the only Donington vid of any quality (and even then it is extremely good.)

ENJOY!

*prays that someone saved the master-clips from the big-screens*

Sorry Dude.....Nicko farted so hard that day that he took out one of the giant screens!

Seriously though, the winds were so severe that day that the screen to the right of the stage (left if you were in the crowd) broke free & had to be taken down! Think this happened round about the time Dave Lee Roth was about to hit the stage!

I have uploaded the entire gig, including Sanctuary, as DVD files in the mad on maiden site ( http://z15.invisionfree.com/Mad_On_Maid ... p?&act=idx) if anyone is interested. ;)

I was at this gig, and remember it being very windy blowing down the left screen. The show is filmed from the right screen and is awesome!

That's where I got the DVD from, but it was still minus Sanctuary...

And is incredibly awesome.  Surprisingly good sound, too.

Someone who knows how should really sync these to the sound files from Eddie's Archive. Surprisingly good sound anyway though. Or did they do any more shows?

I think this is the best and only full concert footage available. It'd be cool to try and add the Maiden Archives audio to it.

In my opinion the full pro concert footage that Maiden surely have in the vaults would be the holy grail of concert footage.

They must have it somewhere for sure. The best footage we have is the official Clairvoyant video which is shot at Donington 1988!

It always seemed to me that only the full stage and distand stage + crowd shots are actually from donington.
The close ups seem to be from another gig or professional filming w/o crowd.

Maybe you're right. The close ups could be from the gig at the Forum where they filmed The Evil that men do single.

Considering how utterly rotten Maiden live videos usually are with continuity, there's usually obvious tells. At a glance it seems like nobody's teleporting around, guitars aren't being switched up mid-song and even the stage clothes are the same (and mind you, those actually changed throughout the tour regularly back in the 80s) but I did eventually notice that Adrian's vest seems to mysteriously change to denim in some of the distant shots and there's cameramen on stage that suddenly aren't visible from the shots taken from the crowd.

Kinda looks like they're playing to an empty hall in the shot that follows Steve as he runs across the stage. Hard to tell since it's cropped off but doesn't really seem like there's any sign of a crowd on the right there. So I suspect they didn't have a full crew filming the actual Donington show, just some establishing shots.
