Bruce's Solo Discography Ranked - The Complete List

I think it's boring, pointless and goes on for far too long. "Tattooed Millionaire" would've been a much better opener; "Son of a Gun" should've been scrapped off the album. Honestly, I'm surprised it's actually generally considered one of the album's best. The chorus is the only good thing about it.
This coming from a “Zulu Lulu” fan. :p

“Son of a Gun” is meaningful, well-written, and superbly performed. The chorus isn’t the best part of it, the entire song is awesome.

34: Soul Intruders
Average Score: 7.9/10
Tyranny of Souls 4/10

I'm really, really surprised this song got so high. Then again, I'm not displeased (even if it shouldn't be higher than some of the ones we've already seen). I doubt that this song will ever be an absolute favorite me, but it is a grower and it is a nice song to come to when you don't feel like listening to the ones you play on repeat. I like it. Still surprised out how well it's done.

Another short song that starts off, the first thing i noticed is that the rhytm
is slightly Metallica-kind, that thrashy chordfollow, the drumming - This
quickly changes to general bruce dickinson. The verses are short, first line is
"We ride the cosmic streams of time". General verse is 4 lines until the bridge,
i think they could have skipped that part. And the chorus, is the most interesting
part of the song, it is what made this song fulfilled - "Souul intruders".
It seems like they have had put much into theses short 4 minutes so it seems
longer than it actually is. The solo is fast and very heavy metal. but far too
short. Great song - But too short!
The sound is quite strange at times, e.g. the drums during Soul Intruders, when Bruce sings "half lives" - the snare drum sounds crap there
Soul Intruders is a fun piece, but also not particularly noteworthy in comparrison with the rest of the albums material. However, I have to say the chorus is great.
Soul Intruders is OK.
Gave Soul Intruders another listen. It's better than OK.
The power, menacing riffs and tight double bass drums, awesome chorus and solo in Soul Intruders are so much better than some seem to hear out here.
I agree with Foro about the amazing intro/outro, but I don't love the chorus and I think the verses are rather weak.
Soul Intruders is awesome.
Fast opening, not the most special song but it's cool nonetheless.
"Soul Intruders" immediately comes to mind as weak on TOS.
Don’t love the pre-chorus that much, but the rest is very good.

At long last, we've come to the 8s, and we'll stick with these right up and into the Top 10. "Freak" is one of Bruce's most interesting songs. Who is this "freak"? What is the dark secret? Does this song have any particular meaning? I dunno if any of you have answers. I'd love to get some. Still, despite this weirdness and despite it needing a few listens to grow on you, I definitely think this song is worth it. Great start to a great album.

I give up. I found some great discussion of Maiden shirts, some cool stuff I can send to bigots next time I see them, and an awesome interview with Bruce from '96... but I gotta sleep, so these choice comments are gonna halfta remain empty.

37: The Breeding House
I think my issue with this song is that it sounds like a hard rock band trying to play metal, but not really being into it. The solos are busy but soulless, and the guitar harmonies are repetitive and obvious. The vocal melodies are a bit rote, too. It still works on some level, but it comes off as forced to me.

32: Trumpets of Jericho
Average Score: 8.05/10
The Chemical Wedding 3/10

This is the maze of life
This is the maze of death
This is the matrix of eternity

The demon never sleeps
The demon never lies
He beats my heart, and leaves no echo

What heavy burden holds me back
Every step along the track?
Fear that reaches deep inside of me....
AT THE TRUMPETS OF JERICHO
Still the walls remain!
AT THE TRUMPETS OF JERICHO
Avalon's in chains!
I fucking love this song.

It's about half the reason I'm a solo Bruce fan. I first heard it thanks to the Bride of Chucky soundtrack - damn did that thing have great music. Took me a few listens to get it. The lyrics seemed weird. "At the trumpets"? And man, if you're trying to write a song about failure, you didn't exactly completely go through with it...

But my god did this song suddenly leap upon me after a few more listens. The opening riff was fucking heavier than anything I ever heard from Maiden. Bruce was in full swing, and I really "got" the lyrics too. It was so good I was disappointed by the rest of The Chemical Wedding when I heard it.

Obviously that's changed. What hasn't is my love for this epic song. I've no idea how anyone could consider it the worst track on the album. It's a fucking monster. It's probably my second favorite after "Chemical Wedding" itself. Surprised this is the first of my 5 favorites from Bruce to exit. You guys are weird.

Love this song.

menacing and sarcastic
This song actually went down in my ratings, I used to think of it as a good song, but now it's just meh. Not even that really.
Trumpets is mediocre
Got roped into watching Bride of Chucky, and had a pleasant surprise in the form of Trumpets of Jericho.
...but still the doll remains
Best song TCW for sure!
Probably my favorite of his balls-out heavy songs. Isn't it in dropped A or something?
I don't know about the key right now but I remember that, in the studio, they had bass strings set on a guitar to record it.
I like Trumpets too. Lowest string is an A, yes (don't know about the other strings). However I'd prefer it to be B, because B is more interesting, generally 'heavier' and smells more like death. Fact.
Trumpets is fucking awesome. Could even be my favourite Bruce song, besides maybe CW and Aquarius.
"Trumpets Of Jericho" is probably the weakest track here, and it's still pretty strong.
I think it was fantastic on Scream For Me Brazil. The siren going off, and the audience screaming their asses off... gives me the chills every time.
My least favourite song on here, although that doesn’t mean much on such a high quality album. After a great buildup, the chorus is a bit of a letdown for me, while still being decent.
If there was any justice, "Trumpets of Jericho" would make the Top 5.

I'm surprised by the number of songs from Tyranny Of Souls that are still in play here. I would have thought that "Abduction", "Navigate The Seas Of The Sun", and "River Of No Return" would already be gone by now.

You and I thought wrong. One of those is in the Top 10.

Top 5 : Dark Side of Aquarius, Book of Thel, The Chemical Wedding, Omega, Tears of the Dragon

Winner is either Book of Thel or Aquarius
