I’m going to repeat myself, but I don’t care.
I run two primary school choirs. Now I might not be the best choir director in the world, but the first thing I do when I want to do a new song with the kids is find the right key. If I ploughed ahead in the original key of some pop songs, it would be too low or high for them. It would make me look unprofessional for not acknowledging this. Also I have to acknowledge there are songs that are just too hard for them.
Now I know downtuning is only a limited form of transposition, but it is the right thing to do for rock band as the singer’s voice ages. I love Bruce, but his arrogance and stubbornness is insufferable on topics like this. You think the man who has spent years working on his craft would get this. Maybe Steve is the most influential on this topic.
Also, authenticity is such a bollocks words that is thrown around in the music industry. Just an excellent marketing tool.
Thank you! Right back at you.As usual, the voice of reason.

But you see, they are perfectionists!Aye its just the typical Bruce stubbornness, ego and arrogance.
Who cares that I've clearly been unable to hit some of the high notes for a decade?
I'm more interested in bragging about doing a sub standard job in the original tuning than dropping down a step and knocking it out the park every night.
"A good job" is debatable and very much subjective. He's been straining like hell on the highs B4s in The Trooper and Hallowed for a decade and a half at this point. Same with Aces High in 2022, which is unlistenable to me. His ego didn't shield my ears from what I had to endureOf course they should have detuned
However part of me wonders if it's only Bruce's ego and stubbornbess that helps him still be able to, mostly, do a good job on these songs in their original key at his advanced age. Like he refuses to let age beat him.
Like I thought he sounded tremendous on CSIT live
Thanks! It’s good fun and working with kids is great.Yeah bullshit he’s talking from the position of someone who has maintained his voice at incredible standards.
I agree with you. It’s more of a Harris issue of inadequacy and stubbornness, Bruce would follow.
The whole thing reminded me the “you can’t play heavy metal with synthesizers” haha yeah right!
Also kudos to you for you running two school choirs!
I'll always prefer Blaze on the verses
What about this then, is rearranging parts of a song to a lower key (without detuning), authentic?
He sounds notably better on the first songs.Like I thought he sounded tremendous on CSIT live
