Ex-IRON MAIDEN Singer BLAZE BAYLEY Is Bald No More - Mar. 24, 2007

Classic Rock ( http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/page ... s_worth_it ) magazine reports: When ex-IRON MAIDEN front man Blaze Bayley discovered he was losing his hair he didn't "Run to the Hills" and step away from the heavy metal music spotlight. He opted for a much more positive approach and headed for advice and guidance from the world's premier hair replacement experts, Optima Hair Specialists Ltd.

Going bald quite simply ain't rock'n'roll, and the 40-something rock legend was a "Man on the Edge" as he sought to rejuvenate his appearance and keep his hairline as fresh as the song lines being produced by his heavy rocking band, BLAZE.

Birmingham-born Blaze went back to his roots to see if Optima could help him rediscover his crowning glory, and he's delighted with the results which are plain to see…

When you've toured the world and shared the stage with some of the world's biggest rock icons, you know what it takes to succeed in the hard-rocking, guitar-screaming, drum-pounding world of heavy metal. It's critically important to hit the right chord with your audience, and that goes for the look, as well as the sound of your band.

"My music is as dynamic as it ever was and I was desperate to ensure my appearance stayed in tune. I'd heard great things about Optima and had no hesitation in calling them up and seeing what they could do for me," says Blaze.

"Optima's unique hair integration technique really blew my mind! My hair looks incredible and the whole Optima experience has served to energise my performances out on stage or in the recording studio — thanks guys, I owe you big time!"

Check out Optima's "Before" and "After" photos of Blaze.

It's really is quite simple; you start thinning on top, you cut your hair short (or even bald - i.e. Halford). Nothing worse than a balding, long haired man. ;)

Seriously though, if that is his bag, let him do it - coz he's worth it. :D

I seem to remember reading that Kerry King had his head shaved because he was going bald.  However, he shaved the head and the beard, so he looked a bit like Matt Lucas before he grew his beard back again.  At the same time, Jeff Hanneman was growing outwards quite a bit... :innocent:

Good for Blaze.

If he can afford the treatment and wants to do it more power to him.

I'll just opt for Albie's suggestion when the time comes.  :D

Frankly, gentlemen, I hope that this time will never come for me.  :S
I'm about 40 and there's still no forwarning, thanks God or whatever!
I'm happy that Blaze has the money to afford the treatment that must be damn expensive.
Buy Blaze's next album and fight off  baldness  :D

Apparently, you have a 40% chance of it happening - if you are a male (according to this site).
And on the Norwood-Hamilton Scale, I'm II. :(

It's also hereditary...  I know from family experience.  My grand father and uncle (on mother's side) were both balding by 30.  Luckily, I have very thick strong hair (though I'm only 16 so far...) so it's not likely for me.

It may be hereditary, but it doesn't happen to everyone in a family. My father was mostly bald by the time he was 35. My brother (who is 34) is getting there rapidly. But I (age 35) still have all my hair. Not a trace of baldness.

The fact that baldness is hereditary is well-known and it doesn't mean that the characteristic is present in 100% of the individuals forming a lineage! Stochasticity may help lucky guys like you SinisterMinisterX.

That's the way to do it!!!

stay positive!

think happy thoughts, like: Maybe your mom cheated on your dad before she got knocked up with you...  :p

I'm balding alarmingly fast for my age, but quite frankly, I'm not keen on making any kind of fuss out of it.
I personally think it's quite sad that Blaze is lowering himself to such an obvious marketing ploy by his new management.

Excuse me, dumbfuck - exactly how is that a happy thought? Or do you think it's in good taste to insult the integrity of my parents and their relationship?

You just made my shit list, assface. Watch your fucking step.

Well, my wife's father had a good hair when he was young, now he looks like captain Picard from Star Trek (and his father does look like Picard too :)), so I'm afraid you're not safe (sorry :) One of my teachers told us (my classmates and me), that wearing long hair leads to baldness finally :)

To be honest, I wouldn't mind looking like Patrick Steward when I reach his age.

This is an amusing thread. I daresay Blaze can do as he pleases, but if I had been him I would have just shaved it like Halford and done something more...productive? beneficial?...with the money needed for that kind of treatment. But hey, since I won't have the problem (or at least the chances are slim)  :p.

Since we're onto this,  does hair gel help in getting bald?

Scrolling quickly down the page to see the new posts, that passed by and I thought it said "...does hair gel help in getting laid?"

Must. Read. More. Carefully.

I wonder why the phrase, 'you see what you want to see' popped into my head upon reading that SMX... :innocent:

What are you talking about? Nothing reeks more of rock and roll than balding, long haired men ;-)
