Back in my youth, I liked All We Are, but nowadays the song feels rather cheap to me, and the lyrics are mostly the same words repeated over and over.
Meanwhile, Sabbath's remastered Headless Cross sounds great. Also, while listening to it, a thought crossed my mind: this song with Martin on vocals sounds very Dio-like. I could almost hear Dio's phrasing and expressiveness.
Martin sounds great, but I'm pretty sure Iommi picked him as a vocalist partly with Dio's style in mind. Great song.
Also, when the song started, I kinda expected these words to come next:

I loved Summoning's song from the get-go. I don't have a clue how it works, but to me it felt like a long, dark meditation or something. I liked the artwork, the overall attitude, and the lyrics (I read them on Metal Archives). The song felt mystical, archaic and primal. After listening to it, I've got urge to learn more about this band - which doesn't even perform live!
Immediately afterwards, Opeth's song felt very well produced and sounded great, but it didn't impress me nearly as much as the previous one. With all those changes, it felt a bit all over the place, without any direct, recognisable pattern.
I have nothing against Opeth. I've tried to familiarise myself with the band several times, but so far I'm still undecided about them. Maybe I'm going against the herd here, but I actually find their much later albums pretty listenable. As for this particular song, it obviously feels very professionally executed and is certainly not something I'd hate, but my immediate reaction was: "a little too much intellectual musical wanking." Ha.
But I'm not writing Opeth off yet. I'm still trying to crack their code.

Jacob's Dream - Sanctuary over At Vance - Only Human.
At the beginning of Sanctuary, I heard echoes of Maiden's The Mercenary, while the later guitar work felt very suitable for Bruce's solo work. Overall, the whole song feels quite Maidenish and Bruce-ish, which is certainly not a minus. The vocals in parts also reminded me of Geddy Lee.
Good enough song to make me want to listen to the whole album by this band.
At Vance's song is also quite listenable, but the chorus felt a little too close to Eurovision-style metal, if you know what I mean.

Limp Bizkit is one of those bands I could hate if I were the kind of person who wasted energy on such things. Nowadays, I just dislike them. I could even preach that they're not metal, haha, based on their attitude, appearance, and overall philosophy.
Rammstein's Mein Herz Brennt, on the other hand, gets me in the mood and puts me in the zone for epicness - like some sort of call to arms. It also opens my favourite album of theirs, Mutter, which I consider their The Chemical Wedding, if I may use that analogy.

I simply cannot take the Warlock song seriously. Headless Cross is very much trying to ape Dio Sabbath, but it's still a decent song and Martin sounds awesome.
Summoning opens with some atmospheric bedroom keyboards and then adds a nice dose of bedroom black metal cackling and bedroom guitars and bedroom programmed drums on top of it. It's cute, but not my style. The almighty Ghost of Perdition, on the other hand, opens with a brief ominous chord pattern before bludgeoning you over the head with one of the heaviest, coolest musical passages in the Opeth oeuvre. What follows is a masterclass in songwriting and dynamics. From the catchy clean vocals over the simple chugging pattern to the twisty riffs and haunting strums that unfold before your ears like a ghost twining its misty tendrils around your throat, Opeth never let you go throughout this song. It's an epic journey and still manages to feel too short. By the time this gorgeous song ends I only want it to start over again.
The vocalist of Jacobs Dream is dreadful. I can't objectively rate the music as I find the singing so amateurish. At Vance is just pure cheese piled on top of more cheese, but at least they sound competent. The singer is a bit try-hard and the music kinda feels like a Sabaton rip-off, but it's listenable enough and has a nice drive to it.
I will vote for anyone over Limp Bizkit purely on principle.

Absolute dweeb voting so far, utter Sabbath bias. Headless Cross is just a soft, shit version of Heaven and Hell. So poor. Possibly the most boring Sabbath song I've ever heard. When I saw that my song was up against Sabbath I feared that I might end up voting against my own pick. I need not have worried. If I didn't know it was Sabbath I totally wouldn't know it was Sabbath. Warlock, on the other hand, is peak 80s metal, back when metal was good, an anthemic banger for the ages. Vote better, people!
Ah, ye olde Opeth. Parts, journeys, blah blah, don't care. I enjoyed some of their early stuff but not this. I did an album run through a few years ago and seemed to enjoy the least popular stuff while disliking their most renowned stuff. Go figure. This song does things, it moves about and I just don't care, nothing hooks me. Summoning is, well, a bit boring. I'll vote for it anyway because there's moments that catch me, unlike Borepeth.
Round 3 and I haven't heard of either of the bands, again. At Vance is generic 'epic' cheese. It's fun though. Jacobs Dream starts well, faulters, comes back. I'm gonna give them the vote for the cool riff. Singer reminds me of Damien Wilson at times.
I dig Rammstein but this is no contest from the get go. Rollin is a pinnacle of the genre. You know what time it is, baby

Headless Cross is not only Sabbath's but among the most iconic songs in Metal. I personally feel that as Sabbath's discography progressed, Tony Iommi's playing got even more refurnished. Nice intro, having a sense of eeriness into it, with a somewhat We Will Rock You-esque beat going on. I believe Tony Martin certainly has his own signature on the vocals but I see why some would compare him to Dio. All We Are is a great sing-along Metal anthem and it's rhythm section is actually surprisingly tight. I just feel Headless Cross is much stronger overall!
Just like Tool, for some reason, I'm not super into Opeth but Ghost Of Perdition is actually a great song! The change in the dynamics throughout the song is more pronounced. The growls, the clean vocals, the acoustic parts, the solos, all done really well. Actually I'm open to some Opeth suggestions now! @MrK @Diesel 11
Never heard of Summoning before this tournament. Their song is fine. During the start I felt, the instrumental can easily go toe-to-toe against Opeth but, it went a bit too monotonous.
Only Human is a great song and has one of the best solos EVER! The main riff in the intro sounds badass and when the entire bands kicks-in, it goes full throttle mode.
Loved the rhythm in the Jacobs Dream song and the vocalist sounds a bit like a high-pitched Bruce to me but At Vance is giving them a strong competition here.
Limp Bizkit is one of those bands, I have gotten into lately. Earlier I used to despise their overall imagery and themes but later realized that their vocalist is actually 'playing a character' behind the mic and he does it pretty great! Rollin' has to be the definitive Bizkit song for me. The instrumental is tight with the vocals having a cool hip-hop vibe with silliness to them. Its not the language barrier for me in case of Rammstein. I just didn't felt it that interesting. Nice touch-up with the symphonic parts though.

I always recommend full albums, so I would say start with Ghost Reveries, Blackwater Park and Still Life. If you just want some other individual songs that kind of scratch a similar itch as Ghost of Perdition, I'd recommend Harlequin Forest, The Drapery Falls, Deliverance, and The Moor.

I adore Pale Communion, but it is absolutely not in the same style as Ghost of Perdition.Pale Communion!
Probably their least autumnal album, too. God I hate it.
