Run For Cover - The Art of Derek Riggs

I was wondering what people's thoughts on this book are. Is it worth getting? Can it be got from anywhere else other than Derek Riggs' website?

Favourite cover of a Maiden song

In Flames do a very good version of Murders in the Rue Morgue and Opeth also have a good cover of Remember Tomorrow, would pick one of those as my favourite.

    Best Gers/ Dickinson/ Harris Song

Went for Montsegur for it's great lyrics and heavy guitar playing, one of the better songs on Dance of Death.

    Death Metal?

Obituary's Anthology cd is a good place to start dipping into death metal, the early Morbid Angel albums are well worth a listen as well. Most people will say Death are the best death metal band you can listen to, all their albums are good. Opeth's albums are great as well, bit more mellow in...

Nicko confirmes that tour starts in January.

it would be nice if that was the case alright and they gave the other albums more of a look in on this tour. Although Children Of The Damned would be nice from NOTB if they do pick songs from that LP. Anything bar the trooper from Piece Of Mind would be welcome as far as i'm concerned...

    Favourite Production

Very hard choice but i went for Somewhere In Time. Especially when listened to through headphones. The seperation between the guitarists into left and right channels is very clear and with the band introducing synths onto the album as well, the overall sound of the album is very etheral and...

Nicko confirmes that tour starts in January.

I saw that alright, what i meant was i hope it's material from the 80's albums that hasn't been played live since touring for the album they were released on (like infinite dreams for example, don't think that's been played since the SSOASS tour) or at all (like good chunks of POM, SIT, SSOASS...

Nicko confirmes that tour starts in January.

Couldn't agree more. These songs are classics, no question about it, but are played on every tour, it would be nice if other material was covered on this tour instead. However, the fact that the albums Iron Maiden - SSOASS are listed on the tour poster, they could crop up next year again. I was...

    Three in a row.

The best 3 in a row for me was Killers-Number Of The Beast-Piece Of Mind. The period from Killers to Seventh Son contains some of Maiden's best work but there was no way i could pick an option from the poll that included Powerslave, just too much filler material on that album for me outisde of...

    One word: AWESOME!

Paschendale for me. Best song on Dance of Death and the live version on Death On The road is awesome also.

    Favourite Ballad

hard choice here as prodigal son is my favourite song on Killers, Como Estais Amigos is my favourite from Vritual Xi and Journeyman is a real highlight from Dance Of Death but i went for No Prayer For The Dying. Just a great all round song and the lyrics are very good also.

    Favorite Maiden Recurring Theme

went for war on this poll. some of my favourite maiden songs are based on this topic (afraid to shoot strangers, the trooper, aces high, tailgunner, good chunk of the X factor, montsegur, paschendale, a matter of life and death album).

    Best title track

Very hard list to choose from as all the songs listed are excellent, both studio versions and in concert. I went for Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, it's such an epic song and the way it builds up, slows in the middle and finishes makes it a classic Maiden track.

    Best Murray/Harris Song

+1. Great song and great album closer.

    Favourite Spoken Intro

The Prisoner. Love the TV series and it's a great song too.

    Favourite Songwriter

Steve Harris for the sheer of volume of classics he has written alone.

Best song whose title is all short words

Very hard decision to make here. Fear of the dark is absolutely class live but the studio version is kind of flat in comparison so i went for To Tame A Land instead. Closing your eyes and listening to that song on headphones takes you away to another planet.

Best song with title whose words are in alphabetical order

Went for Fortunes Of War, love the bass parts and Blaze's voice on this track.
