    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

Back in the days of the "official" Maiden forum, I used to see many Janick appreciation threads from the small contingent of supporters there. The hate was borderline vitriolic but his fans, myself included, have been proven right with time. The man's passion and song crafting ability are...

"The Book of Souls" - Official pre-release thread (CONTAINS ALBUM SPOILERS)

No, but I'm thinking their hope is that Maiden fans who haven't already purchased the album online may seek out retail outlets to pick up a copy. On the way out, or on the way to the album, they may pick up impulse items or general goods during their visit. It's kind of ingenious if you think...

    Help with re-buying Maiden's discography

If you're not gonna buy the new one straight off, I'd go for Somewhere in Time. Hunt around on eBay for an original CD press, it's worth it.

Iron Maiden songs that you flat out dislike?

The Apparition I can find something to like in basically every Iron Maiden song, even if I don't like the track as a whole. This is the only one I can honestly say that I hate.

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

Thanks! As much as I'd love to hear a collection of strong, fast paced songs from the band, it's time for me to accept that they're past all that. I'm loving their more longform work here, and always have, so if that's what they're going to pour their creativity into I'd personally rather them...

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

Reposting from the Maiden Chat thread. As I'm wont to do whenever a new Maiden album comes around, I'm here to pop out of the shadows, spew my opinions on it, then fade into the great unknown after about ten posts or so when my enthusiasm wears off. Enjoy, lambaste, or ignore at your leisure...

Ditto. As I'm wont to do whenever a new Maiden album comes around, I'm here to pop out of the shadows, spew my opinions on it, then fade into the great unknown after about ten posts or so when my enthusiasm wears off. Enjoy, lambaste, or ignore at your leisure. All my thoughts are in spoiler...

Album production, overall sound - loudness war?

Ugh, watching that video is always heartbreaking. Up until Final Frontier, Brave New World was my favorite album, but it always gave me a headache. Same with DoD and VXI. If any albums in Maidens back-catalog ever get complete remixes and remasters, these three are the absolute top candidates.

    Satellite 15.. The Final Frontier

Re: Satellite 15....The Final Frontier It's not a defect exactly, you're just hearing where the drum-loop starts over. That's actually what clued me in that it was a drum machine rather than Nicko.

Satellite 15 . . . The Final Frontier: Video Impressions Here

Close, that's when it started though. I'm gonna put it in spoiler tags to protect the innocent.

Satellite 15 . . . The Final Frontier: Video Impressions Here

Just saw the video, and I'm pretty impressed. A long time ago I had to accept that crappy CGI was going to be a recurring trend in Maiden videos, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this wasn't so bad. Did anyone else catch the Indiana Jones and Alien references? Nice touch. All around...

    New album: The Final Frontier!

I don't know about that. It's true that Bruce has lost a lot of his higher register, but his full voice is still very strong. I don't see why he couldn't pull off a more than respectable rendition of Highway Star or something. He certainly has more than enough voice for it, plus he can still do...

The Longest Day, nearly a great song until.....

I agree completely. There's actually several instances of songs speeding along like a freight train through the verses only to hit a wall once it reaches the chorus, or the whole song suddenly changes tone right in the middle without warning. It's very strange considering how polished Maiden's...

Official thread for Final Frontier discussion

Re: Discussion thread for Final Frontier/El Dorado single If that list is legit, then I have a new front-runner for my most anticipated song. Dave doesn't do a lot of heavy writing, but when he does, it's usually one hell of a song. The Thin Line Between Love and Hate, another Murray/Harris...

Official thread for Final Frontier discussion

Re: Discussion thread for Final Frontier/El Dorado single I was thinking that at first as well, but when you think about the way Maiden have been presenting themselves lately it kinda makes sense. Wicker Man, Wildest Dreams, and Different World have all been in the same vein as the classic...

Re: Discussion thread for Final Frontier/El Dorado single Hey ladies and gents, first-time poster here. Haven't been on an Iron Maiden board since the official one went fan club only, but all this recent buzz about the new album and single got me excited enough to post something about it. So...
