    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

    I was 12 when I first heard Maiden in 2007. :p

    Dream Theater

Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence is technically a 42 minute track and I think it's one of the best things Dream Theater have ever put out.

    Dream Theater

Album cover looks cool; I'm excited. Will be interested to see how the 20 minute track goes; I wasn't enthralled by Illumination Theory.

To each their own. I think the top songs on X Factor (for me, SOTC, EOD and JOH) are above and beyond what Virtual XI put out, but at the same time I dislike a lot of the rest of the album (Fortunes of War, Look for the Truth, The Aftermath, Blood on the World's Hands, The Unbeliever) because I...

I wasn't there at the time (I got into Maiden around 2008, so The Final Frontier was the first release I actively followed) but I've a soft spot for Virtual XI. For all its faults it does feel like a conscious effort to return to normality after the markedly different X Factor and I enjoy all of...

I should preface this reply with the note that Empire of the Clouds is, in my opinion one of the best things Maiden have ever released. That said... I agree to the extent that 18 minutes constitutes a significantly larger proportion of albums then than it does now. If you didn't like Empire and...

I think you've pretty much nailed it. Bands change and evolve and it's unreasonable to expect everyone to follow that. I'd understand the reactions to reunion albums if this was the first but it's been so long at this point I don't get how people keep devoting the energy. I'd have loved to have...

I recall going to see Maiden at Download 2016. Disturbed played earlier that day, and I remember people in the crowd losing it (and not in the good way) when they brought out violins for their cover of The Sound Of Silence. To this day I'm sad we didn't get to see the reaction to a piano being...

In reply to the DOD stuff earlier: I would go as far as to say Dance of Death is one of my top 5 of all the Iron Maiden albums. The title track and Paschendale are some of the bands absolute best, and I don't think Face In The Sand is too far behind, either. Rainmaker, No More Lies and...

I think I feel the same, but I'm waiting on two albums that day! I put a lot of it down to the longer wait and the Feast build up. Feels like there's been more preamble this time round.

I think realistically it's excessive work and excessive threads just to display a choice thats not all that interesting on its own. A discussion thread where people post their orderings and give their reasoning would be less work and more interesting.

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

A poll wouldn't work well as there are 120 possible orderings of the five albums, but I expected a discussion thread for it to exist by now - I couldn't find one from a search, though it's been discussed sporadically in other posts before.

I will start a riot if it's not an X-Men themed song. ;) Well, they all suck because they were released after Powerslave have songs most people enjoy. It's really a function of how much you enjoy the rest. Everyone loves Paschendale and Dance of Death; I just rate the album higher because I...

It's hard; all the information we were given was exhausted very quickly.

IF we are doing this, then: BOS > DOD >= BNW > TFF > AMOLAD.

Respectfully, it doesn't matter that you think nobody liked it when you can very easily load up a live version of the song on YouTube and check that people did.

Climb Like A Monkey was a highlight, especially when the plush gets involved. Yeah, it's a silly lyric and it's a silly dance but that's what makes it so fun and it was nice to see so many people have a good laugh and not take themselves so seriously.

What else do we listen to?

I like pockets of music from most genres, though focusing on classic rock and heavy metal. A timeline is hard and I've probably forgot it, but my 10 favourite artists at the moment are (alphabetically) probably: - Amaranthe - Amon Amarth - Battle Beast - Dream Theater - Firewind - Halestorm -...

Go go Go Stratego go Go Stratego go Go Stratego go Go Stratego go Whoa-oa-oa-oa By Chuck Berry Steve Harris.

Tears of a Clown, The Final Frontier (if you count Satellite 15 separately), Rainmaker and The Fallen Angel are all examples of great short songs that Harris has writing credits for in my opinion.
