    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Yea its a strange one. This whole we wrote it on the spot...give ourselves a couple of week to write etc. Then Steve is saying elsewhere he has loads of ideas. I do think that Steve, Bruce and Adrian all come with loads of rough ideas, that they then hash out with each other, in pairs etc. I...

Totally relate to this. I got a walkman (don't even think it was sony...some cheapy plastic red thing with no rewind) for my 10th birthday, in the mid 80's and parents told me I could go to the local record store and pick out a tape. My 10 yr old eyes fixed on Killers. Didn't know who they were...

There's been some cool points about the structuring and arranging of songs, especially about Steve's post reunion stuff, or maybe really since FOD onwards. About the cut + paste of ideas. It's something Metallica do as well, and its actually a fairly well used songwriting tactic. They do have to...

If they ever do play Alexander the Great, I hope they keep to the original soloists, Not sure I want Janickisms on that track. Don't want it to turn into Alexander the Alright

Interesting insights here. I have a feeling we're gonna have to get this 'which is the best reunion album' or ranking out of our system b4 Senjutsu hits. I'm listening to TRATB as I type this...live chapter version. Wasn't sure when I heard it on the album first...but fk me its pure fun live...

Well said. I for one am really enjoying the maturing of the Maiden sound. I'm mid 40s myself and been a fan since 10 years old. But I don't want them to look back and try and recapture something. Their 80s albums were the sound and temperament of youth...as they should have been. What they...

I feel exactly the same with TGU. "that'll do" bridge and chorus. I also find that'll do moments scattered across WTRRD and SOTV. Frustrating.

My ranking changes but generally BNW AMOLAD great TFF DOD BOS very good with a few quality control issues (all have great material but some just ok ish stuff that pulls the album down)

Just been listening back to MOM with all this discussion. I find TFF album still growing in my ratings. It has come up somewhat whereas BOS has dropped a bit for me. A little funny thing I just noticed...some of you probably noticed this already....but on the MOM remaster on YouTube, right as...

We probably just need a female Eddie....Edwina, and trollop her up a bit, put her on the next cover. Boom! No. 1

Doms always been a fan. I can see his new review arriving early this time around as well. But I know it will be heaps of praise and not necessarily the most objective review. I really am hoping for stronger then BOS. While a strong album, I do feel that TGU, WTRRD and SOTV suffered from a little...

I seem to remember Kerrang and Metal Hammer reviews before the album releases the last few times. Can't be 100% certain though. But I'm always on the lookout

Well Bruce said it is definitely not a concept album. I think the visual concept-samurai Eddie, just comes from Steve's song, Senjutsu. Interpreted in a few ways....tactics...strategy....to defeat your enemy in battle, kind of Art of War

good point. Epic to me isn't really anything to do with over a certain run time. They usually are long, but are adventurous in their composition...they take you to different (musical) locations, feel like a larger story, and have a sense of scale (like a movie). An example I would use is ATG...

Yea there's no denying Riggs was instrumental (pun intended) in building the band image, and super imaginative etc, however in the 90s onwards he got sidetracked by digital work and it kind of ruined him, just take a look at his stuff on his website. Its a different scenario for Wilkinson, the...
