Relistening to the title track now: the chorus itself is actually a lovely piece of music and it's not as jarring as on first impression, but I do think it kind of feels a little odd in the context of the song. Also weirdly some of the vocals sound super muted now on speakers rather than headphones. Still think this might've been better off if they cut it off a few minutes earlier. Would've been a tighter, punchier opener. Not that it's bad as is by any means, but it feels like it's heading for the conclusion when Janick's solo comes in but there's still three minutes of song left!

I am with you on this one. Less lyrics would have helped for sure
 
LIALW is the reason why TXF is collecting dust for more than 20 years now!! :)
At least the intro is a rip off from an amazing Purple song!
 
Track by track review so far...
Senjutsu: an absolute beast of a song. One of the heaviest since Monstegeur. The H solo was suberb

Stratego: still one of the highlights of the album. Best chorus out of all tracks

TWOTW: still holds its own. Best production of the album imo

The Time Machine: apart from the intro and outro, love this song. Love the tempo change and the chorus.

Days of future past: Everlong meets iron maiden. Fantastic song and superb solo.

The Parchment: My fav so far. Definition of Epic

Hell on Earth: one of the most melodic song from maiden ever.

I liked the album a lot.

Particularly its heavy & sometimes atypical sound. When Senjutsu started I was very impressed and though this album cannot go wrong.
I could stop listening right there with full satisfaction, but I continued.
Lost in a Lost World could me out and not missed, though it didn't bother me as much.
Days of Future past nothing special but I liked its 4 minutes short so much that is worthy of few words.
Time Machine I though the sound doesn't't match with the rest of the album, now that I'm listening to it again, it's not that bad.
Darkest Hour I liked a lot it reminded me Bruce Dickinson material. Great stuff.
The rest 3 Harris epics I like them all, I thought I would't but zero complaints. As a matter of fact they exceeded my expectations.

The first song I put to listen again was Hell on Earth, then Dankest Hour and The Parchment.

Wait.... what? I love that song- shows the subjectivity of this whole thing lol.

I don't hate either.. Actually I don't dislike anything from there.
 
I am a simple man. I like Bruce's voice, nice melodies, solos and time shifts. This is the first album that has so many obvious flaws but I do not really care. Two songs do not cut it for me and even these two got some great parts.
