Players of Rovio’s mobile RPG Angry Birds Evolution will get a special treat just in time for Halloween: a special playable character “Eddie The Bird,” based on Iron Maiden’s iconic mascot Eddie.

Eddie the Bird will be available for two weeks starting on October 18th. Players who successfully recruit Eddie the Bird to their team will be able to keep him in perpetuity.

A press release tells us that there will be four evolutions of the character to represent four different Maiden albums. “In addition, the Bird Island will be transformed into a Halloween themed heavy metal oasis with a land full of hair-raising and loving tributes to Eddie, Iron Maiden and the heavy metal universe.”

“Our team is filled with massive Iron Maiden fans and Eddie was both our first choice & a natural fit in Angry Birds Evolution,” said Miika Tams, VP Games and Product Lead for Angry Birds Evolution, “It’s about time his status as a true rock icon was celebrated and we know that fans will love seeing Eddie the Bird raise hell on Bird Island!”

“When you get a call from Rovio, one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world confessing that they are Maiden fans and want to celebrate Halloween with Eddie you just have to take notice. They have outdone themselves with this incredible tribute to Maiden and the opportunity to share the band’s music with their millions of players around the world. I really can’t wait to play him and skittle those pigs!” Llexi Leon, Interactive Creative Director at Phantom Music Management.

I play Angry Birds, but the lame, regular edition. Just installed Evolution to check it out, but will be unable to play because my daughter saw Eddie and elbowed me aside. Now she's playing.

Then there's an easy solution.

Make @Perun download it on his device, and take it away from him once he starts playing!

The Pirate: Caribbean Hunt

I play Sid Meier's Pirates, from 2004. PC game. My character, Edmund Blackadder, sails under British flag on a brigantine, is currently the 2nd most notorious pirate of the Carribean. The game has chick hunting, you land somewhere, and interact with governor's daughter so she could give you a hint or a quest. Sometimes you can pass with giving her something you purchased in the tavern, like a ring. Most of the times, you have to dance Baroque and not mess up. On easy level, there'll be visual cues what keypad direction to press just before you need to change your dance routine. On moderate and up, there are no cues. You need to follow the lady and interactively dance Baroque.

Meh. Downloaded the game. Opened it. Realized it's some RPG shit instead of the simple slingshot stuff from the first few games. Deleted it.
