    Favorite Maiden Lyrics

So many poignant lyrics have been penned by the boys over the years it's hard to narrow it down to just a few. Just off the top of my head, my favorites are: Hallowed Be Thy Name When the Wild Wind Blows (the closing verse is especially haunting) Sign of the Cross The Talisman (...their...

    Guitar Pedals

Most bassists actually do tweak their tone knobs them frequently. Oddly enough, Steve Harris has his disconnected and runs them at full 'on' all the time. He allegedly uses hand signals to tell his techs when to adjust his tone up or down.

Bass players support group - funny!

Think the bass player is unimportant? Have your favorite groupie plant her a$$ on top of your bass cab and then play some of those low notes. The rumbling she'll feel through her body will make her smile more than the guitarist's rig will! :innocent::cool:

    What guitar do you play?

Fender Strat - no mods yet, but keep thinking about upgrading the bridge pickup someday. I also noodle around on my son's Schecter and Epi Les Paul but the Strat will keep its #1 ranking. Since switching to bass about 10 yrs ago I don't pick up the six-stringers too often anymore. FWIW, my...

    Guitar Pedals

Gosh, reading threads like this makes me glad I switched over to bass (after 30 yrs playing guitar). All us four-stringers need is the tone knob on our basses, plus a little compression here and there! :p :edmetal:

Fender Precision with Steve Harris Pickups?

Yeah, I know I'm replying to a three-year-old thread, but... To the OP...don't be so caught up in gear. Especially with bass. So much of 'Arry's tone depends on amplification, compression, equalization, and right-hand technique. Having a 'signature' instrument really means nothing even with the...

    Hardest Maiden song to play?

For me, a bass player, I have trouble with certain parts of a few songs. The opening to 'The Clairvoyant'...for some reason I have a hard time sticking to the rhythm...it always feels like there should be another beat in there. Phantom of the Opera...the part where Steve plays that repetitive...

Things about Iron Maiden that annoy you

Can't really call it an 'annoyance' but kinda wish Adrian (and Dave to a lesser extent) would move around onstage a little more. At least Dave smiles and looks like he's enjoying himself at times. Adrian...stands still and stone-faced most of the time. Gawd, dude, I'd give my left nut to do what...

Bruce's versions of Di'anno and Bayley era songs

My thoughts exactly. Nothing against Blaze but Bruce's versions of those two especially are light years better, IMO.

    Worst Iron Maiden Song

Geez, can't believe the hate for Age of Innocence! That song effing ROCKS! For years I hated Can I Play With Madness, but only recently I've been playing it on my drive home from work everyday. Now I like it quite a bit, although it'll never be my fav. Ditto with Afraid to Shoot Strangers...

Is the current Iron Maiden lineup band's "classic" lineup?

Well, since I never got into Maiden until around 2008, the current lineup will always be the classic lineup to me!

What or who got you into Iron Maiden?

I started playing guitar back in the late 70's while in high school. Loved EVH, Rhoads, Malmsteen, and did my best to emulate them. I got to be a fairly decent player and always dreamt of being a rock star, but never quite made it, LOL! Fast forward about 25 years or so. My then 10-yr-old son...
