Which is your favoure Bruce's vocal performance?

Arbiex

Invader
I believe as an overall album his best overall singing is in Piece of Mind but for single tracks i choose Children Of The Damned (amazing feeling there) and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner.

Powerslave for his earlier vocals and Brave New World for his later vocals.

Beast Over Hammersmith and Rock In Rio for live perfromance.

There's a bootleg of the Somewhere Back in Time Chile 2009 concert which I think was broadcast on TV there at the time, that's my favourite live vocal performance from Bruce.

As for studio performances its harder to determine a winner, but The Talisman in particular blew me away when I first heard it.

I very much like Bruce of this era. The quality of his voice really came together here, he's got steadily more gruff since then.

I've said it before, but for me 1997-2001 was the golden years for Bruce. I really enjoy Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding therefore aswell.

I think these two albums are kind of legendary!!Especially the second one

The Chemical Wedding is golden. I think that if it were released under the Iron Maiden name it would be considerd legendary. Because it is a Bruce album, it's not that well known which is a shame.

No offense to Blaze-era fans, but imagine Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding replacing Virtual XI.
The 90's would not be considered weak.

But I think as far as albums go, Chemical Wedding, and Brave New World tie for his best work.

Yes that is a great show. Beast in The Light from the same show has one of the strongest and coolest vocals I've heard. Just listen to Bruces belting.

Me:
Songs
- Back from the Edge
- The Trooper (Live After Death version)
- Infinite Dreams
- Man of Sorrows
- Rime of the Ancient Mariner
- Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (song)
- The Nomad (the high singing in the chorus)
- Innerspace
Maiden albums
Studio: Brave New World
Live: Rock in Rio
Brucey:
Tough choice between AOB and TCW

My wife:
- live version of Jerusalem from The Best of Bruce Dickinson
-
Dance of Death (the beginning of the song; slower part until the folky riffs start). The drama!
- Infinite Dreams
- Sign of the Cross (Rock in Rio version)
- Dream of Mirrors
- Brighter than a Thousand Suns (bridge: "All the nations are rising etc ...")
- Omega
Maiden albums
Studio: The Number of the Beast & Brave New World
Live: Rock in Rio

A few of Bruce's highlights of mine have to be:

  • The scream in The Number of the Beast
  • Run To The Hills (Come on, the chorus is phenomenal)
  • Revelations
  • "Then down in falls comes the RAAAIIIIINN" in ROTAM on Flight 666
  • Infinite Dreams
  • Wasting Love
  • Tears of the Dragon
  • Man of Sorrows
  • The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
  • Paschendale on Death on the Road
Now, I hope that the list can be updated with some songs from The Book of Souls! :)

Not to take anything from this amazing Tears of the Dragon version I just want to point out it is in a lower register than the original.

Song wise, possibly Revelations. Top 10 Maiden song for me, aided a lot by Bruce's performance.

I Totally agree. PoM is his vocal studio masterpiece.
Live: as someone said Beast over Hammersmith (22 Acacia Avenue is incredibile), Rock in Rio and all the Somewhere back in Time tour.

- Aces High chorus with the amazing high tuned harmony
- Dies with your boots "they diiiie, with their boots on, yes they diiiiie..."! Impossible to sing : so high and precise!
- Rime of the ancient mariner : Then down in falls comes the rain (CD version)
- The long note at the end of Flight of Icarus
- Infinite dreams : "There's got to be just more to it than this etc..." until the end : amazing interpretation
- Nomad's chorus
- The Thin Line Between Love and Hate chorus
- Stranger in a strange land
- Intensity rising on The Longerst Day's introduction

...can't list everything but I think it's best level was on Piece of Mind. The voice seems more powerfull and "rich" on Powerslave, but Piece of Mind is full of stuff that seems impossible to do!
