Which are your favourite Maiden lyric parts/moments/excerpts?

Dick Brucinson

Dave Sustaine
Which ones do you like best? I know there are sooooooooooo many... but some outstanding ones for you?
I'm not speaking about your favourite vocal lines and the way Bruce sings, pronounces or does whatever with them. This is more about the lyrical weight by itself.
One of my all time fave parts is "love is a razor and I walked a line on that silver blade, slept in the dust with his daughter eyes red with the slaughter of innocence".

First one I thought of:

He gave his life for us, he fell upon the cross
To die for all of those who never mourned his loss
It wasn’t meant for us to feel the pain again
Tell me why, tell me why

At first thought: Hell On Earth, Wasted Years and Ghost Of The Navigator.

I wish I could go back
Will never be the same again
Bled for all upon this hell on earth
And when I leave this world
I hope to see you all again
On the other side of hell on earth
Upon the eyes of good
I'm following the light again
In between the dark of hell on earth
On the other side, I'll see again heaven
So far away from this hell on earth

So understand
Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years
Face up... make your stand
And realise you're living in the golden years

Where I go I do not know, I only know the place I've been
Dreams they come and go, ever shall be so
Nothing's real until you feel

In a time when dinosaurs walked the earth
When the land was swamp and caves were home...

Okay, okay...

There are many, for very different reasons and singers' performance often underlines it for me, so it's quite hard to pick up some definitive favourites when it comes to lyrics alone. I admit that I'm bit of a sucker for Steve's "blood on the world's hands" lyrics category (For the Greater Good of God, Hell on Earth...) but I'm not sure how I feel about the texsts themselves without the melody & vocals associations.

I think Revelations is quite an interesting lyrical text altogether, but of course it borrows a lot of it's content elsewhere. Still, great one.

Actually, Brighter Than a Thousand Suns comes to mind...but it's a true Maiden masterpiece in every way!

Burying our morals and burying our dead
Burying our head in the sand
E=mc² you can't relate
How we made God with our hands

Whatever would Robert have said to his God
'Bout how he made war with the Sun?
E=mc² you can't relate
How we made God with our hands

All nations are rising
Through acid bells of love and hate
Chain letters of Satan
Uncertainty led us all to this

All nations are rising
Through acid veils of love and hate
Cold fusion of fury

Divide and conquer while ye may
Others preach and others fall and pray
In the bunkers where we'll die
We're the executioners, they lie

Bombers launched with no recall
Minute warning of the missile fall
Take a look at your last day
Guessing you won't have the time to cry

A few of them...:

The crescendo in '22, Acacia Avenue' and the lines coming after: 'You're running away, don't you know what you're doing?...'
Sea of Madness instrumental part after the solo: 'It's madness, the sun don't shine on the sea of madness...'
Instrumental parts and Bruce singing the title of 'The Thin Line Between Love and Hate'
Paschendale: 'Blood is falling like the rain, its crimson cloak unveils again'...
Brighter than a Thousand Suns' part cited by Randalf.
Hell on Earth: 'Love in anger, life in danger...'
