Fade To Black definitely seems like a sleeper here. I didn't expect it to even make the top three.
 
Tough. But I am gonna prefer that outstanding guitar harmony at the end of Fade to Black. Also that solo.... *melts*
This must be one of the most memorable song endings of all time.

Yup. One of my favorite moments in rock music ever.
 
Not sure if the this description makes sense but I love how the melody in the left guitar goes from low to higher to lower again, in the last three longer notes (D-E-D <--- these are probably not the real notes; I'm just describing the pattern), while the right one goes from high to lower to lower (C-B-A). These different routes make a great match.

In keeping with my longstanding tradition of ignoring most survivors and then coming in at the end to skew the results, I hereby case my vote against Book of Thel, in part to create a tie, but mostly because I like Fade to Black slightly (but only very slightly) better.
 
FARCE! I call FARCE! At least one Dream Theater song should have been in! Or a Genesis song! This...result...aaaggghhhnn!!!
