Black Sabbath beats Death to advance.

As usual, vote for your favourite. The winner advances, the loser goes home.

In the red corner, from Sydney Australia, weighing in with 15 albums power chord thunder and frenetic energy, perhaps the most popular hard rock act in the world today:

In the blue corner, from London England, weighing in with 10 albums of thoughtful, experimental progressive rock tempered with metal flourishes:

I'm voting for AC/DC.

I only know a couple of Porcupine Tree songs and although both are very good I couldn't possibly vote against AC/DC on the basis of two songs! AC/DC are good fun (and partly Scottish!) despite all of their songs sounding exactly the same.

I'm not a huge fan of either, but they both have albums I really like. PT has more to offer though, imo.

I like both bands and find each underrated on this forum.
Porcupine Tree has a lot of depth to their music and a couple great albums.
AC/DC does just one thing, but nobody does it better.
I want to give PT some support because they are getting blown out, but AC/DC.

Hard Rock? What's wrong with that?

Doesn't seem to have the depth and originality that Metal can have. As stated previously, most AC/DC songs sound alike, and although they have cool riffs, it gets vapid in a while. Not enough melodic riffs and the lyrical themes are usually of things that don't interest me. Exceptions are out there of course, and don't take everything I said a 100% because it's not like I can analyse Hard Rock like I could, say, Maiden.

AC/DC
Why? Well, that should be obvious! They're freaking AC/DC! Though their last good album was Back In Black (?)
they're still awesome! Though, Thunderstruck is still awesome.

I'm not extra familiar with Porcupine Tree, have only heard 3 albums by them. But on the other hand, I despise AC/DC. So my vote goes to PT even though it's not gonna change anything.

Anyway, I wouldn't see AC/DC as a representative band for the genre. Most of their songs sound indeed alike, but that's not the case for an entire genre.
