In a pair of minor upsets, Fleetwood Mac upsets Dream Theater in a dramatic turn of events. Pantera sends Van Halen running with the devil.
As usual, vote for your favourite. Winner moves on, loser goes home.

In the blue corner, handpicked by legendary Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, weighing in with eight albums ranging from medievel-tinged progressive metal to hard rock

In the red corner, from Seattle Washington, weighing in with 14 albums of hard rock featuring the powerhouse vocals of Ann Wilson

Ann Wilson is epic and I like Heart (at least the early stuff) better than many bands in this tourney.
But not better than Rainbow.

Rainbow. Never heard any material from Heart. On the other hand, Rainbow is one of my favorite bands.

Barracuda ... have to have heard it? I like early Heart (first few albums, but their 80s and beyond stuff was real hit and miss), I'll go with Rainbow

Any? Not even Alone? I am pretty sure you've heard it even if you didn't know it was Heart. :)
I've never heard that either. I know a lot of Heart's early stuff though and that's what is mostly popular out here. Stuff like Magic Man and Crazy On You.

Yea I like that stuff, never cared for any of the 80's material I heard.

Actually no, I hadn't heard it before.
It might be the most famous rock (or "power") ballad of the eighties. Not only Heart's biggest hit, it also was a huge global hit. We're probably having a generation gap here but I thought younger people would also have heard it.

I am, but I'm more into synthpop/new wave genres of 80s music. There are many hit rock ballads I haven't heard before, I'm sure.

I see but still I thought that this is the kind of song that you don't have to like to have heard it. ;-)

I heard Barracuda long before I heard Alone, but Alone is definitely a very well known song and it surprises me that people who come up with such obscure songs from time to time haven't at least heard it, even if they didn't know the artist that did it.
