Mckindog, you put a hell of a lot of work into this and I am grateful for that. This was one of the "little" things I could hang on to, right after losing our daughter. It was good to stay focused on something. I even think I kept voting right after it happened (without posting for a while though). This survivor went on so long that I don't even know when it all started. Cool that it ended just before the end of the year! A worthy closer.
I am satisfied with the results. I miss some personal favourites, but I agree with the winner and I am happy with the high positions of The Thin Red Line and Circle of Light. I am also glad that Sea of Life reached the top 10.

This was fun. I went into this thinking Saxon had a decent amount of good songs and a whole lot of mediocre ones.
I was right on the second point, but I was surprised by how many good ones there actually were - even at an average of just four an album, you end up somewhere between 60 and 90 good songs, and that's not something very many bands can claim.
I like the band better now than when I started, and that is exactly why I play these games.

If you would have told me at the start our top 10 would include songs like Wheels of Steel, 747, Heavy Metal Thunder, Princess of the Night, Crusader and Broken Heroes, I would have nodded my head. Good songs and acknowledged classics from the band's most-popular period.
So I am very surprised with what we ended up with.

These three are in mine as well I think. I also would have liked it if "Give it all away" would have done better and perhaps also a song like "Ride Like the Wind".
Speaking of "Ride Like the Wind", what striked me the most is that the melodic songs did not do well in this survivor, especially the ones from the eighties.
