What sometimes happens is the act of people forgetting. Not Steve playing.

Well I disagree anyway. He plays bass guitar. Different instrument, different strings.

Are you now claiming bass guitar strings aren't guitar strings?

All this nitpicking ain't getting you any closer to the answers, Foro...

Well, IF Maiden has played live with under 10 strings, it must be during the Early Days, during their period as a four-piece.

Did Dave Murray ever play a guitar solo by himself on stage in the early days? They used to do guitar solos in their setlist. If so that's 6 strings.

During the beginning of Prowler there was only one guitar to be heard on stage. 6 strings.

True. When playing Journeyman? 18 electric guitar strings, 4 electric bass guitar strings and at least two acoustic guitars.

Actually, playing Dance of Death on the Death on the Road Tour as well?

During the acoustic intro of Talisman, Janick played the intro on an acoustic on a stand while still having his electric over his shoulder.

During the BNW tour H started on the stage alone with Nicko, and he played the intro riff to The Wicker Man without the rest of the band.

... and Steve has an instrumental break every concert, where he plays two strings only (I tink..?)

Let's look at the original statements:
Now let's look at the silly answers...
You might as well have said he was only plucking one string, so it's one string. Nonsense answer...
Live. Doesn't matter what happened on albums. So, all being played live at the same time? 6+ guitars? Pff. Next!
    No. No. No. Nonsense talkers...
Dave did indeed play guitar solos on his own in the early 80's all the time (e.g. RiR), with just Nicko out on stage with him. Would this count as "Maiden have played live with less than 10 strings"? Naw, & it's not what I had in mind; but Cried will take this as the best answer! :D

    Flash
gets the first question (sort of) correct! :ok:

The original answer to the first statement was:
    TRUE
    9 strings
Maiden played on stage with only Dave & Steve on guitars &...
    Dave broke a string! :ninja:

In respect to statement two: Knicks has hit the closest; very close. And it's not a trick question this time...

During Wasting Love Maiden had 4 guitars (2 acoustics and 2 electric) and 1 bass. That's 28. :/

    At the same time? o_O

I already told you Knicks was closest to the answer; look at what he said...

At the same time? I don't think Maiden have ever done this kind of cabaret.

OK, so it wasn't something like Smith with a double neck (12 strings), Murray (6), Harris (4), Gers (6) = 28 strings. And then Bruce had an acoustic as well?

    *clutching at straws.

Or worse - Eddie was "playing" a guitar. [IMG]

    Very, very close, Albie.

    Here's a clue I gave Foro:

Good guess with the Eddie, Albie, but he wasn't doing that when Adrian played his double neck.

Maybe (at least) two people played with double strings (12 strings), during Journeyman for example? Just a wild guess.

    12 + 12 + 6 + 4 = 32

Nope. Or if they did, there's a higher answer.

Focus your attention on this guitar:
