Official thread for Final Frontier discussion

After a month I feel this album is a lot more well rounded than AMOLAD and therefore far more enjoyable.  I'm not going to say it's my favorite or anything, but when it comes to the post reunion albums I think it's the strongest of them all.  Great stuff.

Well, after one month, I'd say that The Final Frontier is here on my ranking:

Piece Of Mind
Powerslave
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Killers
Brave New World
The X Factor
Iron Maiden
Somewhere In Time
The Number Of The Beast
Dance Of Death
Fear Of The Dark
The Final Frontier
Virtual XI
No Prayer For The Dying
A Matter Of Life And Death

Any Bruce solo albums from Balls To Picasso are better than TFF. Nevertheless, TFF is a great album which I listen to very often and from start to finish only skipping occasionally The Alchemist.

I'll play ball:

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Piece of Mind
The Final Frontier
Brave New World
A Matter of Life and Death
Somewhere in Time
Number of the Beast
Iron Maiden
The X Factor
Powerslave
Dance of Death
Virtual XI
No Prayer for the Dying
Fear of the Dark
Killers

Brave New World
Powerslave
The Final Frontier
A Matter of Life And Death
The X Factor
The Number of the Beast
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Virtual XI
Piece of Mind
Dance of Death
Somewhere In Time
Iron Maiden
Killers
No Prayer For the Dying
Fear of the Dark

The X Factor
Piece of Mind
Iron Maiden
Dance of Death
Killers

No Prayer for the Dying
Fear of the Dark

The Final Frontier
Piece of Mind (Pretty much a tie with TFF)
Somewhere in Time
Brave New World
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
A Matter of Life and Death
The Number of the Beast
Killers
Powerslave
The X Factor
Iron Maiden (tie with TXF)
Fear of the Dark
Virtual XI (tie with Fear)
No Prayer for the Dying

Rankings as of today. Records tend to switch positions inside their group, with two exceptions : SIT always the un-matched leader (although TFF puts on hell of a match, SIT wins because of astonishing sound and Adrian's solos), FOTD always the least favourable. On two occasions, records moved to another group. AMOLAD came from very bottom to the top league once it clicked, TXF also made a progression towards stable middle once it clicked too.

Top 4 :

Somewhere In Time
The Final Frontier
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
A Matter Of Life And Death

Middle 7 :

Piece Of Mind
The X Factor
Powerslave
No Prayer For The Dying
Brave New World
Virtual XI
Killers

Last 4 :

The Number Of The Beast
Dance Of Death
Iron Maiden
Fear Of The Dark

As you can see, my least favourite are those filled with short rockers, that often get praised because of same.

I have an overall, equal love for X Factor and every album with Bruce except No Prayer and Fear. So,:

#1: Those 10 albums
Killers
Iron Maiden
Virtual XI
Fear
No Prayer

Frontier might be their best ever.
That's a spot usually reserved for Piece of Mind, and AMOLAD is right there, but right now, it's TFF.
Beast, Time, Brave New World and Powerslave are all contenders, have all been #1 at some point and are usually pretty interchangeable.
X Factor, 7th Son and Dance of Death are all great as well, but the next tier.
VXI, Killers and Iron Maiden are mostly awesome but flawed, Fear of the Dark is uneven and No Prayer is mediocre.
I'd say seven 10s, three 9s, three 8s a 7 and a 6.

I never expected they would make such an album.I love all the reunion albums but I always thought they just ain't as good as the golden era.TFF managed to surpass 2 of them.Never thought I would say that but yes - TFF is better than POM!!!
Note that I rate all Maiden albums between 10/10 and 9,95/10.

Despite its mysterious disappearance, I'd guess SIT would fit at #7.  ;)

I took a couple week break from listening to the album. Just started listening again yesterday. And it is STILL awesome, of course! I don't think it could have been any better. It exceeded my expectations by 100 times. Anyway, here is my list from best to least favorite:
Powerslave
Killers
Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast
Brave New World
The Final Frontier
Somewhere in Time
Piece of Mind
Dance of Death
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
No Prayer for the Dying
