If the AMOFAD setlist didn't feature the full album...

At the time I thought the setlist was amazing. I became a fan with the album and it was the only one I had heard in its entirety. In retreospect, I would like to make a few adjustments. Paschendale, Alexander the Great and Aces High would have gone great with the theme along with the war themed tracks from The X Factor.

  • Aces High
  • Different World
  • These Colours Don't Run
  • Paschendale
  • The Pilgrim
  • The Edge of Darkness
  • Blood on the Worlds Hands
  • Out of the Shadows
  • 2 Minutes to Midnight
  • The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
  • For The Greater Good of God
  • Fortunes of War
  • Alexander the Great
  • Fear of the Dark
  • Iron Maiden

  • Hallowed Be Thy Name
  • The Evil That Men Do
  • The Trooper

Seeing all the war themed songs you found that I forgot makes me realize how amazing Maiden are writing war themed music! Killers and Be Quick fits right in.

1. Different World
2. These Colours Don't Run
3. Brighter Than 1000 Suns
4. The Trooper

Paschendale would be great as a first encore. Like NOTB (which usually has that honor) it has a spoken intro (if performed as in the Death on the Road DVD)!

Different World
These Colours Don't Run
Brighter Than A Thousand Suns
The Trooper
Children of the Damned
The Longest Day
Paschendale
The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
For the Greater Good of God
The Number of the Beast
Run to the Hills
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
2 Minutes to Midnight
The Evil That Men Do
Hallowed Be Thy Name

Very similar to the 2007 setlist. Dropped Wrathchild, added a song from AMOLAD, and with the war theme Paschendale is an obvious choice.

The only songs I would drop would be Different World and Out of the Shadows. In keeping with the theme, my setlist would be....

1. Aces High
2. The Trooper
3. These Colours Don't Run
4. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
5. The Pilgrim
6. The Longest Day
7. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
8. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
9. For the Greater Good of God
10. Lord of Light
11. The Legacy
12. 2 Minutes to Midnight
-----
13. Paschendale
14. The Thin Line Between Love and Hate
15. The Evil That Men Do

I came up with this a few weeks ago as an alternative to the AMOTB concept

1. Different World
2. These Colours Don't Run
3. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
4. The Trooper
5. Afraid to Shoot Strangers
6. The Longest Day
7. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
8. For the Greater Good of God
9. Blood Brothers
10. Passchendaele
11. Fear of the Dark
12. Iron Maiden

13. Tailgunner
14. Two Minutes to Midnight
15. Hallowed be thy Name

I cannot believe Out of the Shadows is being left off any of these alternate AMOLAD tour list!! It was crazy great live!!!
What a beautiful, haunting piece of art. It was the highlight of the night for me and is one my favorite songs of all time! First off I wouldn't change a thing about that set list, it was huuuugely succcesful to play it all and the choice of songs in addition were perfect.
Gotta have Shadows, Breege, these colours, Longest day and 1000 suns. Gotta have em'!

But are they better than Sabaton, The very masters of war-themed metal? :p:rocker:

Is the topic opener aware of the 2007 setlist?
Yes, are you aware that the 2007 dates were not really part of the album tour? (as they announced it as the 25th TNOTB anniversary leg) Might wanna do your homework first ;) here, we discuss the idea of playing AMOLAD in full as part of promoting it. If not in full, how? By 2007 the band moved on from that idea anyway so bringing my knowledge of these dates into this thread is just dumb. To help you out; "To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the The number of the Beast, the band announced that they would play 5 songs each from The Number of the Beast and A Matter of Life and Death throughout the 2007 part of the tour."

I think that tour was a realistic idea of what an AMOLAD setlist without the full album would've looked like. 5 songs from the new album + a bunch of classics. Very similar to the TFF 2011 tour. The only thing I would change for the 2006 leg is I'd take out one NOTB song and replace it with something else, maybe a reunion era track.

I dont think so anyway. The only intresting addition was COTD, and people have added some far more intresting setlists already ;)
