It came down to #1 vs. #2 for me. But head to head I went with #2, mostly due to the classic era #2s.

Prowler (1-0)
Wrathchild (1-1)
Children (1-2)
Revelations (1-3)
23:58 (1-4)
Wasted (1-5)
Infinite (1-6)
Holy Smoke (1-7)
Be Quick (2-7)
Sign (3-7)
Futureal (4-7)
Wicker (5-7)
Rainmaker (5-8)
These Colours (5-9)

Let's make a few changes. XD
Prowler (1-0)
Wrathchild (1-1)
Children (1-2)
Revelations (1-3)
Aces High (2-3)
Caught (3-3)
Moonchild (4-3)
Holy Smoke (4-4)
Be Quick (5-4)
Sign (6-4)
Futureal (7-4)
Wicker (8-4)
Rainmaker (8-5)
These Colours (8-6)

With me it comes down to #3 vs #5.

Why not #8?
Well, #8 was another great candidate because it includes my favourite song Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Further we got Alexander the Great, Only the Good Die Young, Blood on the World's Hands & Paschendale. However I'm not that over the moon about Paschendale as most of you guys, and -more important-, this group contains:
Chains of Misery, Como Estais Amigos, FTGGOG (all three belong to my least favourite songs from their corresponding albums) and the pre-Powerslave albums tracks are not the best ones either.

So what's left? Here goes (in bold the songs which belong to my favourites):

3:
Remember Tomorrow, Murders in the Rue Morgue, The Prisoner, Flight of Icarus, Losfer Words (Big 'Orra), Sea of Madness, Can I Play With Madness, No Prayer for the Dying, Afraid to Shoot Strangers, Man on the Edge, Lightning Strikes Twice, Brave New World, No More Lies, Brighter than a Thousand Suns

5
Phantom of the Opera, Genghis Khan, The Number of the Beast, The Trooper, The Duellists, The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, Fates Warning, Childhood's End, Look for the Truth, When Two Worlds Collide, The Mercenary, Dance of Death, The Longest Day

Category 3 has less weaker tracks. I only dislike No More Lies.
Category 5 has two weaker tracks, namely When Two Worlds Collide & The Longest Day.

Still, I decided to choose for #5, because it contains quite some more awesome tracks. So many strong ones, a great playlist! But it was hard. #3 and #8 were worthy opponents and who knows, this might change another day.

Tastes differ. :)

I find those repetitive (Longest Day & No More Lies) and unoriginal* (When Two Worlds Collide & No More Lies) songs.

* With unoriginal I mean that parts of songs were (almost literally) used before, namely in That Girl (WTWC) & Judgement of Heaven + The Educated Fool (No More Lies).

I guess we members of this forum have at least seen one gay porn movie. Could you guys please recommend some really good ones which are your favourite? Thanks a lot. Cheers

Wtf? What has that got to do with anything?

Anyway, for me it came down to tracks 2, 5, and 7. And in the end 2 wins because in my opinion it is the most consistent track (nothing awful except maybe The Angel and the Gambler, and it has Infinite Dreams). Track 8 that seems to be so popular around here has Rime and Paschendale and that's about it. So track 2 it is.

Without much thinking I'd say: no5  ;)
With some more consideration I could say 8 -Hallowed*, Rime, Paschendale, Only the Good Die Young, Alexander, Iron Maiden*, Nomad, but no5 wins  :D

Now let's see : Both numbers belong to Fibonacci's sequence and 5/8= 0.625, the golden number /ratio

* Sorry, but I can't considered the re-issued editions. I've grown up during '80s and for me
The Number of the Beast, as well as the title album will always have 8 songs.

Hey, me too but I thought we'd play the rules of the pollmaker.

I'm sorry, I don't see the connection between No More Lies and those songs you mentioned. Can you explain where the similiar parts are?

Although I can agree with you on No More Lies being repetitive, though I think it's very powerful and not as boring as WTWC.

They shouldn't be strict, let us chose Mr Wingman  <_<
I mean, Hallowed is a de facto no8 for me, how can I vote it for no9* ??

In any case, no5 wins whenever I have to chose between numbers,
so either original releases or re-issues, or whatever the subject can be ...I choose 5 -It's stronger than me  :halo:

*I was just explaining why no8 is my second favorite number....   :D

Well, would you like to play those songs in chronological order? Listen well to the instrumental parts. There's where the similarities start to take shape.

It rules!  :ok:

Yes, I found it! I knew something like this was done before.

Funny detail: the opener of this new topic gave the first answer in the old one, hehe.

Remember, the golden ratio is not the ratio between two subsequent Fibonacci numbers, but the limit of the ratio between two subsequent Fibonacci numbers as you proceed through the sequence

I think we should accept it if some people are so used to thinking of Iron Maiden and The Number of the Beast as 8-song albums that it's unnatural for them to think different. However, as I said, it was a deliberate move from my side to ask people to consider the remastered versions, since it would make the choice tougher if Hallowed Be Thy Name was consdered a "9".

@Foro: I remembered that thread about favourite track by number. I actually had it in mind when I made this one.
