Book of Thel finished 8th (I think?) last year.
Personally, the song is fine except for one particular part of the pre-chorus that I dislike ("The book of Thel is Op-hen-ing!"), which is sadly all that ever comes to mind when I think of the song. I hate the fact that it is that way, but that one part that I really dislike completely overshadows the rest of it for me and I struggle to get past it >.< That said, even without that, whilst I like the rest of the song I find it inferior to the last two songs to go out.

Thel won the whole thing in 2010 and 2011 with Darkside as the runner up. Darkside won last time. It's no surprise that Thel and Darkside are the strongest competitors in this game. Last year was a fluke.

Last time was a continuation of a trend that also affected the Iron Maiden survivor (remember how CSIT won?) where people wanted a less predictable top ten so they voted for some of the more popular songs really early. Not condemning this trend, I definitely liked seeing Hallowed getting knocked out early (it probably wouldn't make my personal top ten), just pointing it out.
Since there are a lot of new members voting in these games for the first time, there seems to be less concern about "predictable" results. So Thel is safer.

I was actually looking through that game, and Hallowed came 3rd overall, which is still good. CSIT came 2nd to Rime I believe.

Not that CSIT isn't a worthy winner, because it is.
