Band/artist-game

Forostar

Ancient Mariner
1. Choose a band/artist.
2. The next poster has to rate it in a scale from 0 to 10 (6,5 e.g. is possible).
3. Then describe the band in 5 words / terms / sentences.
4. Then name another band for the next poster.

It is allowed to use one band more times. But not by the same user, naturally.
It's also allowed (and nice for variation) to name one specific stage of a band's career or one particular line-up, also if the band was already mentioned earlier. Solo artists are also allowed.

My first entry:

1. John Coltrane
2. My rating: 9,5
3. My description:
- fascinating evolution in his career
- his dynamic music was unmatched in jazz
- great feel for ballads
- great feel for blues but at the same time he was very progressive and willing to take risks, continually searching
- with his famous quartet he brought out the best out of the individual musicians resulting in mighty cohesive music

4. Next band: Megadeth

Rating: 8
-Powerful
-Melodic
-Neckbreaking
-Controversial
-Mustaine

Next band: Manowar.

Rating: 5.5
-Sometimes great.
-Sometimes way too cheesy.
-Sometimes sublime (Fighting the World).
-Sometimes I just want to raise my sword and scream "Hail to England".
-Sometimes I just switch off.

Next band - Kreator.

Albie, I'm afraid no one is answering that band/artist.
Are you willing to do another one instead?

If not, I'll take a chance, but I have only heard a few Kreator songs in my life.

Rating: 5

Flea
Good tunes, not real agressive, sometimes deeper than given credit, seems like a wide variety in song style and speed.

Alice In Chains (original)

7.629

I love AIC, but I'm a tough grader.

1. Staley and Cantrell both have unique voices, but their vocal blend was truly one of a kind.
2. Could be depressing at times. "Down In A Hole"
3. Could rock your ass off at other times. "Dam That River", "Again"
4. Knew how to put atmosphere into songs. "Sea Of Sorrow", "No Excuses"
5. Started as a LA Guns imitation sleaze metal band, spelling it Alice 'N Chaynz. No shit.

Just because I happen to be playing "Cherry" right now... next band is UFO.
