Surprised to see some love for Angel. I don't dislike the track but like I said before it has always felt like a by the numbers ballad to me (although Halford gives a fantastic performance).
Well, if it’s a big enough name it would be a more likely explanation that Roy jumped ship for another gig. Who’s in the market for Roy’s work right now? Priest just finished an album and are about to tour so I assume they’re out. Ozzy probably isn’t doing anything?
I just don’t see the point in complaining about it when Maiden has followed a pretty rigid formula for their setlists since the 80s. I could understand if it were Dream Theater and people were wanting them to go back to a system that was used before, but you might as well also ask Maiden to play...
Thanks for the info! That makes sense. Also typically a baritone is tuned B E A D F# B. Tuning F# up to G wouldn’t be standard tuning, so B E A D F# B makes more sense as well.
Not necessarily if it used a digital master, which is often the case with new vinyl pressings. My understanding is that the vinyl does sound better for Death Magnetic but that the gold standard is the "unmastered" stems from Guitar Hero.
Not sure if this has been posted here, but I found a nice 4K remaster of the Dortmund concert with Iron Maiden spliced in (just the 12 wasted years version, so a bit of a quality dip and not a seamless cut). Very crisp!

And we have our first major...
I noticed fewer than expected guitar solos on TMP and also noticed the guitar solos that were present were very weak and below the standard I’ve come to expect from Roy Z. I’m glad there weren’t any more honestly.
Except we’re talking about a band that primarily works in E minor (sometimes D) and often uses the same chord progression (or variants of the same progression). :D
I agree with your general point though, they’re not going to work in the studio without Bruce. Partially because they’re creatures...
The only way that Maiden’s activity in 2025 gives Bruce space to do solo work is less Maiden activity. I don’t see any other way around that. At the same time, he is intentionally dropping hints by saying things like that. He wouldn’t say stuff to get fans riled up when the “secret news” is Iron...
I like the idea of the comic and getting extra goodies with the physical copy, but I’m kidding myself if I think I am actually going to read it and care about the story (especially since the music hardly ties into it).
I will eventually buy the cd and vinyl though like the Dickinson simp I am.
I can think of three different vinyl versions, couldn’t guess the sixth copy though. Maybe an original Japanese CD with bonus tracks? Not sure if that exists.
For Bruce Dickinson I own exactly three copies of each album besides Tyranny and Mandrake. The original CD, remaster with bonus tracks...
