We use the word "slåmaskin" in Norwegian, too - but we use it for a larger machine used to cut taller grass, more specifically in a farming setting.

When I was wee I used to confuse move and mow and I thought the lawnmower "mowes" the grass away :D

Purebred has racist tones that i think should not be used
unless talking about dogs or cats or horses or something like that

Just like this: "программное обеспечение, ПО, софт, транзистор, осциллоскоп".
 
Actually, the direct translation of "Stokavski" into English, both by words and by pure meaning, 100%, would be Whatish.
