Child in Time is a behemoth proto-metal track, but I'm slightly leaning Perfect Strangers. That keyboard riff in the middle! Perfect Strangers is a strange (in a good way) album. It's like Deep Purple already knew they were an older metal act by the mid 80's and just kinda reinforced that they...
I understand different tastes and everything like that, but the constant dogging on Mark The Shark Shelton’s voice irks me. They’re not bad, I in fact find them great. I just don’t like seeing one of the greatest underground legends in heavy metal being dragged for anything. I’m connected to a...
My heavy metal brain is still so captivated by Ride the Lightning. That song AND album. I just don’t know how they did it, there’s these albums that come along every so often that you hear and think to yourself “everyone in the world is chasing this sound” and that’s what I think every time I...
I quite like Turbo. I listen to a lot of glam and I’ve always heard Tubro less as a glam album and more so Priest trying to channel a commercial 80’s metal sound. Mosh hit it right on the head by highlighting some of the great atmospheric parts of the album - that intro to Out in the Cold rules!
“It’s only just begun” is one of the greatest moments in heavy metal and also probably one of Bathory’s best moments. One Rode to Asa Bay just missed my list, but a couple of years ago I wore out Hammerheart, awesome stuff even though I now prefer the first two Bathory albums to everything else...
Nice write-ups Diesel, I expect nothing less from the Listmaster himself.

Yes, it’s crazy to me that almost 50 years into their career they had one of their most iconic live moments in 2015 - that being Halls of Valhalla live on Battle Cry. When I first heard that I was utterly blown away.
Battle Cry has long been my favorite Priest song, and it’s CRIMINAL it’s never been played live. It’s a modern heavy metal classic. I personally like the drum sound quite a lot. This album when played in full is a little boring however. Probably would’ve worked better by taking the strongest...
I’m gonna be echoing the above points, but similar to how I feel about Point of Entry, this album should work for me, but doesn’t. Ram it Down feels like it goes through multiple identity crises before it even ends, and I have multiple questions throughout. Does it want to be blistering speed...
I wish Megadeth would’ve played Angry Again when I saw them this past summer. It has quietly become one of my favorites from them, and it’s surprising it never actually made it on to one of their studio albums.
As a big AOR guy, it always sounds more awesome "in theory" for rock and metal bands I like to do AOR stuff. Priest going AOR should be right up my alley, but this album does indeed fall short. Solar Angels, Heading Out to the Highway and Desert Plains all rule though.
