See attachments. I like the sound of these two VXI gigs (Stockholm (soundboard!) & Osaka) a lot. There are others with very decent sound as well (not just the South American recordings). And "Enter Janick" for historical value.

Destroying Boston 6-10-2006 for the TERRIBLY badly tuned (or NOT tuned) acoustic guitar in The Legacy. Most shocking musical moment from Maiden's career. I remember Jan's roadie got fired because of this.

Definitely interested in some early Bruce recordings.

I've actually heard this one. Is there an interview or something that explains the roadie thing?

The solos are one of the things I like the most about these old bootlegs. The Clive Burr solos where he would interact with the public, Dave Murray playing solos with his teeth, Walking on Glass solo during Somewhere in Time Tour... Awesome stuff. It's cool to see the changes in the band over the years.

Continued...

I'm going to use the US date version from now on , to make it easier to locate the shows on hubs etc if someone wants to hear them.

The Beast on the Road 1982 - some really amazing bootlegs from Bruce's first tour.

1982-03-09 Oxford - the Smilers master version is just the very best from this tour. Almost as good as a soundboard recording.
1982-03-24 Paris - there's an FM version around, really the one to go for.
1982-06-29 New York
1982-08-26 Poole - I have two bersions of this, the one with 5 songs is great. The other is a bit distant.
1982-11-27 Tokyo - as Forostar said probably one of the last times I've Got The Fire was played. Good sound quality to boot.

World Piece Tour 1983 - there are many favourites of mine from this tour. Check out how much tighter the band gets as the tour progresses.

1983-05-06 Leicester - do not miss out on this one. Early on the tour, loose playing, great audience.
1983-05-08 Ipswich
1983-05-10 Nottingham - great recording.
1983-05-17 Newcastle - again from the UK tour. Many good bootlegs on that leg and I left out Southampton. And wth I've got the fire is played at speed metal velocity almost.
1983-05-26 Hammersmith
1983-06-03 Gothenburg
1983-06-05 Stockholm
1983-07-12 Phoenix
1983-09-05 Toronto
1983-09-30 Chicago - Radio broadcast version, shorter set lists in the above mentioned American shows and this sadly. Now a much tighter band.
1983-11-19 Clermont Ferrand - my first bootleg and it is still a lovely thing. Especially To Tame a Land and the french introduction on Frank Herbert and Dune.

Always Look on the Bright Side.... @Albie @Welsh Phantom ?

I believe they started with Doctor Doctor, back in 1981.
Can't confirm "Always Look on the Bright Side" I don't remember it, but "Life of Brian" was quite new then. I can confirm "Doctor Doctor" was 82 on. It could have been 81 (I saw them on the NOTB tour at Portsmouth). It could have been then, but can't remember that clearly.

I believe they started with Doctor Doctor, back in 1981.

I think Doctor Doctor was the main intro on the Beast on the Road Tour, but not on the tours after that.

They then brought it back in 2003 for Give me Ed til I'm Dead and it has stayed ever since.

The Roma, 27-10-1981 bootleg starts with Doctor Doctor. They might have started the thing when Bruce joined the band.

I can't stand that Doctor Doctor song prior to any Maiden show! Get finally rid of it!

I don't care for Doctor Doctor. But closing with Always Look On The Bright Side of Life is a stroke of genius. It's like for all the fans who might have thought the show sucked..well always look on the bright side and don't leave too grumpy :p

2000-05 Brave New World London Premiere

Interviews and live in studio versions. Very cool to hear this roaring Wicker Man version:

And The Trooper, with fantastic Bruce:

20/6 Rainbow, London (the best one from this tour)
This is awesome. Didn't realize that was this the same gig from the video until Wrathchild. Had no idea they did any redos, but did they actually use the redos in the original clip? It's been awhile but from what I could tell Iron Maiden and Phantom are from the main set. Would love to see this whole concert officially released someday.

Careful. The Rainbow video was recorded on 21 December. Stratton plays on the June gig.
Before the Exile!: Rainbow Theatre, London 21 December 1980
(Revelations) Live at the Rainbow or Rainbow Theatre 20.06.1980; same venue, different date: 20 June 1980.

Ah, it looks like I've downloaded both of those gigs. The one I listened to yesterday was definitely the one from the video. Same versions of the songs, same stage banter, and he introduced Adrian before Transylvania.
