New Forum Broken Something?

When one enters The Iron Maiden Commentary (starting at the main forum pages; below solo/side project discussion): http://forum.maidenfans.com/categories/the-iron-maiden-commentary.66/

one sees English Commentary. When one enters that one: http://forum.maidenfans.com/forums/english-commentary.4/

one gets at English Commentary but this does not contribute in any way. The subfora presented here are repeated from the stuff under The Iron Maiden Commentary (which also features a French sub board).

I'd say; delete the English Commentary section, since it = the The Iron Maiden Commentary minus the French.

Hope this made sense. :)
I'd say investigate it yourself first, then I'm sure it'll make sense.

You're correct - it appears to be a bug in the forum software. The 100k thread is the only one I've moved and then left a redirecting placeholder in its old location for - so I'm inclined to think I'll remove the redirect thread in a few weeks once most people have settled back in and got used to the new layout. (The forum software guys might also fix the bug)
OK, makes sense. Thanks for looking into these issues. Seems were keeping you busy during the holidays.

I've done this now - the other part of it I notice is that there's a general discussion section in there, which in theory the threads from could be put directly under the 'The Iron Maiden Commentary' top level forum, meaning when you go there you'd see the threads plus the per-album sub forums.

Just a thought for now, I'd like to get opinions on it.

Thanks!

Not sure about the other idea, Jon. The albums (and the songs underneath) are the most important elements of the Commentary forum, and the rest fits well into "general" which keeps that rest all together. If these separate topics would get one level higher, they might put the albums more out of sight. Maybe a conservative thought, just my two cents. ;)

Looking very snazzy, I do like dynamic websites that have all those fluid popups rather than things just appearing.. I would guess it's jQuery, which I should really learn at some point to improve my own (Although self-critical I never think my own things look good no matter what I do :p)

There will always be functionality losses/gains during changeovers especially when it's heavily modded like the previous code, never seen this forum CMS before... another to add to the list! and another to learn the code structure of (god damn phpbb3 is annoying to fiddle with compared to phpbb2!)

I still need to get used to the visual layout...this blue/light orange colour scheme does not sit well for me. I know, its only cosmetical! But still...Can you implement more board skins for people to choose from?

Looks like links to Youtube videos automatically embeds the video. That should require a special tag, like [yt][/yt] for example.

Code:
[plain]http://youtu.be/w02JHKOY-FI[/plain]

Edit: After experimenting above, I've found you can put the URL on the page using the
Code:
[plain]
tags, but of course you won't be able to link it at that point. I can prevent the youtube links being auto converted, but there's a catch in that people who want to link a youtube video would either then have to know to use the media button, or manually enter the video ID between the media tags... Opinions?

I'm trying various things out - if people have suggestions for a colour scheme let me know - I've drained the blue out of it for now, but I'm struggling with other colours etc.

Not 100 per cent there yet, but as my break-in period concludes, I think I like the new forum — its user friendly and it looks very clean.
Now we just have to rescue the Survivor games.

The only thing with the Survivor games is you need people to be honest and only vote their 3 votes.

Another thing: How do I stop receiving e-mail notifications to my gmail whenever somebody replies to one of my posts?

I have unchecked the "and receive email notifications of replies" option under Preferences, but I have received e-mails after I did that.

Go to the top under forums and go to watched threads, then go to show all watched threads. Check the ones that say email on the right and then in the lower left corner move the dropdown to disable email notifications and click ok.

Hey Jon, can you add a function for spoiler tags? I think they will become necessary again sooner or later.
